Angels Visit Eden Spa...

News 13Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, the Chrome Angels of Central Florida visited the Eden Spa at Florida Hospital's Cancer Institute. It wasn't exactly a 'night of beauty' for the Angels, rather they toured the facility and learned what their recent donation would be used for. The Spa is dedicated to empowering women to move beyond cancer and has been such a success that they are currently in the process of building a second facility at Florida Hospital's south Orlando location.

The Eden Spa for Image Discovery is a beautiful facility where patients can receive facials, hair cuts/styles, manicures, pedicures, massages and more. It’s not just the body that’s challenged in the battle to overcome cancer. The effects of treatment can also affect self-image. At the Eden Spa, women can experience the kind of special services that renew the spirit and rejuvenate the body. From massage and pedicures, to wig and specialty bra fitting, their staff understands the special needs of cancer patients. At Eden, they treat the spirit - not just the cancer.

The staff at Eden go out of their way to guide and support patients through any stage of their life. Ms. Linda and Ms. Tammy were most gracious during the Angel's visit and answered many questions. The Chrome Angels are considering a more 'personal visit' to the Spa. (Anyone is welcome to make an appointment although patients get first priority in scheduling.) It looks like a few manicures and facials are in order after those long rides – not to mention fixing helmet hair!

Visit the professional staff in their calming atmosphere at Eden Spa. For more information, call (407) 303-9727 or visit the Eden Spa's web site.

Bikers Raise Money for Breast Cancer Patients

Hundreds of bikers rolled into Orlando Sunday to raise money for a good cause.

It was all part of the 5th annual Ribbons for Life event.

The Chrome Angels of Central Florida, a women's motorcycle club, organized the event to raise money for breast cancer patients.

Riders braved the chilly and windy weather to ride from New Smyrna Beach and St. Cloud to Orlando.

Those that took part said it’s worth it since you usually don't have to go far to find someone affected by the disease.

"We have a lot of people, as I said, touched by breast cancer. You know either mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, so you know we have a lot of people come in their cars and trucks just to support the event because they know we do good things," said Jessi Sills from the Chrome Angels of Central Florida.

The ride was expected to raise well over $10,000.
